Special Guest: Daisy Bonilla, Growing in Healing, LLC

Topic:  Civic Engagement; Why we need YOU to get involved.

How engaged are you in your community? Perhaps you serve on your school PTA or you work with a local charity. Perhaps you stay informed about local news and vote at election time. Or perhaps not. Between work, family, and other commitments, it can be hard to find time to get involved, but civic engagement is an important part of exercising your voice in our society.

But what does civic engagement mean and why should you get involved?  Join special guest, Daisy Bonilla to learn more!

Daisy Bonilla, a social worker, therapist, and the first Latina to run in Bentonville for the Arkansas State House of Representatives has dedicated her life to advocating for those who are unprotected and unheard. She recently announced her second State House campaign for 2022. As a first-generation American, she recognizes the importance of having people in government who will advocate for underrepresented voices in our community and create access for shared growth and prosperity for all Arkansans.

Daisy holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, Riverside, and earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University. She has had the privilege of serving Bentonville and Northwest Arkansas as a social worker and public policy advocate since 2013. Daisy recently joined the small business community and opened her own mental health private practice, Growing in Healing/Creciendo en Bienestar, in Rogers, AR. Daisy specializes in helping individuals and families recover from trauma. Daisy is excited to be running for the opportunity to champion economic justice in the form of fair and living wages and healthcare access in the State Legislature.
